getup montgomery county
Client challenge. GetUp Montgomery County is a public initiative geared towards advocating and enabling the children of Montgomery County to lead healthier, more active lives. In order to get this important message out to not only the children of Montgomery County but also to the parents and teachers, GetUp needed a website that appealed to children and adults alike. GetUp was a unique project in that their final goal was not just to attract visitors and increase awareness, but rather to spread a message throughout a community.
what we did
Atomic solution. Above all else, the GetUp website needed to appeal to children. So, Atomic started by using Flash and ActionScript to create a dynamic and interactive banner on the home page that promotes exploration of the site. Combining the banner with a kid-friendly design keeps children engaged and intrigued. By creating a site that is intriguing to children, Atomic increased the likelihood of younger visitors finding ways to incorporate aspects of a healthy lifestyle into their everyday lives. Upon reaching the site, teachers and parents also find it easy to navigate. The layout of the site makes it easy for adults to find ways that they can help spread the message throughout Montgomery County, whether through volunteering, social networking or cooking with healthy foods. Atomic outfitted the GetUp site with a content management system and a custom calendar module that allows those involved with the GetUp Montgomery County initiative to update their audience on upcoming events and to provide new ways to push the message of improved childhood health. The result? The GetUp website is both extremely beautiful and extremely functional. Atomic is proud to be a part of GetUp's message and proud to have created a site that is appealing to a wide range of visitors. And, with the installation of a content management system and an interactive calendar, the GetUp audience is made aware of new volunteer opportunities and new strategies for keeping children interested in an active, healthy lifestyle.
